GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Greene Co. Sheriff's Dept. is searching for three suspects who faked road trouble so they could rob the people who stopped to help.
According to the sheriff's dept., two of the suspects, a man and a woman, sat alongside State Route 70-South (Asheville Hwy.) around six p.m. with the hood up on their red GMC Jimmy or Chevrolet S-10 SUV, pretending to have car trouble. The woman, who was holding what appeared to be a baby, was trying to flag down help.
When someone finally stopped, a third man got out of the SUV and both men approached the victims carrying guns and demanded their money. Then, all of the suspects got into the SUV and fled.
One of the suspects was described as a white man with dirty blonde hair, 5'9' tall, around 19 or 20 years old, while the other guy has a stocky build, is 5'10" and between 20 and 25 years old. The woman had dirty blonde hair.
