KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- Authorities have identified the man killed in an overnight wreck on I-40 early Sunday morning. According to the Knoxville Police Dept., Jose Jesus Guzman-Torres was heading the wrong way down the I-40 between James White Parkway and I-275 shortly after 1:00 a.m.
That's when the 26 year-old's Saturn Ion collided with a 2005 Scion driven by Mark Kenner, of Knoxville. Guzman-Torres was killed in the crash. Kenner and his passenger, Melissa Bell, were taken to UT Medical Center with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
A 2002 Volkswagen, driven by Thomas Struble, also struck Guzman-Torres' Saturn. Struble and his passenger, Bradley Wright went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries as well.
Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash.
