KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Gas prices continue their downward trend around East Tennessee, despite Hurricane Sandy sweeping through the northeast and forcing many gas stations there to close temporarily.
While fuel shortages may have sent prices soaring in the Northeast, across the rest of the nation, drivers saw gas fall more than seven cents a gallon to $3.47.
In Knoxville, gas fell nearly 12 cents to under $3.20/ gallon, the biggest drop in the region. Meanwhile, prices fell over a nickel in Kingsport, settling in at just a tick over three bucks - the lowest price in the area.
Bristol, Cleveland, and Maryville all saw declines of around eight cents, while Johnson City drivers are paying just under three cents less per gallon.
