KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Dozens of people gathered at Victor Ashe Park Saturday to take part in Out of the Darkness, a community walk to prevent suicide.
The 3.5-mile walk benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The not-for-profit organization funds research, education and advocacy, and reaches out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide.
The walk also gave people who have lost loved ones to suicide a chance to support each other and offer help.
Several of the groups wore t-shirts in honor of a loved one.
