SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Sevier County Election Commission has set a date to look at issues with the election commission, possibly setting a date for Pigeon Forge's Liquor by the Drink Referendum.
This will be the commissions first meeting since a Sevier County Chancery Court Judge ruled that a November 2012 election was too inaccurate and ordered a new election to determine if liquor should be sold at restaurants in Pigeon Forge.
The election commission will meet on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at the election offices on Dolly Parton Parkway.
According to the meeting notice, "the purpose of this meeting is to discuss any pertinent Election Commission business."
Sevier County Chancellor Telford Fogerty ordered a new election last Thursday. He ordered the election take place no sooner than 45 days from now, but no later than 60 days from now. He did not say whether businesses already serving liquor must stop.
The ruling came after a lawsuit filed after the November election challenged 289 votes.
