SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A 3 year-old girl was rushed via Lifestar to the hospital after she was hit by a parked car that started rolling backwards in a Sevierville apartment complex, according to a city spokesperson. The toddler was treated for minor injuries and released Thursday morning, he added.
Authorities said the car was parked at the complex, 110 Mary Lee Way, shortly before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. The unoccupied car then started rolling backwards, hitting a tree and a curb before striking the girl.
She was taken by ambulance to the local airport and, from there, flown by helicopter to UT Medical Center.
A preliminary investigation found the parking/emergency brake on the car apparently failed, the spokesperson said. The investigation remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
