BRISTOL, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Police say a one-year-old boy has been safely located and his non-custodial father has been arrested, after the father reportedly sent a text message to the child's mother saying he would not return the boy.
According to the TBI, Dakota James Smith was last seen by his mother on Saturday. His father, Tayler James Smith, told her he wanted to take Dakota to see family in the area.
Dakota's mother said she received the text from Smith around 1:00 a.m. Monday. Warrants for custodial interference were issued for him and the pair was found Monday afternoon.
