Family friends of Courteney Kaliszweski, the teen killed in a fiery crash Sunday morning, talk about their loss.

SEYMOUR, Tenn. (WVLT)-- At only 16 years old, Courteney Kaliszweski touched the lives of many.

She was a Cedar Grove Baptist Church Youth Group member who always shared her love for Christ.

"I will always remember her being just an up spirit girl who could always put a smile on your face, who was very Christian and just could bring out the best in everbody around her," Whitney Brown said.

Friends told Local 8 News Courteney was a girl of faith from a very young age.

"Courteney went on her first mission trip when she was about 12 years old," Mitzi Brown said.

"Church was a big thing for her. She posted statuses about how much she loved God. Her Facebook said 'I work for the Lord,'" Whitney Brown said.

Whitney and Mitizi Brown have known Courteney and her family for nearly a decade. She moved to East Tennessee from Florida when she was in the second grade.

"We got to watch her grow. She's always been so petite and tiny," Mitzi said. "She got beautiful as the years went on."

Her life may have been cut short, but just as the cross placed along Chapman Highway reads, she will never be 'forgotten.'

"She would do anything for anybody. She loved God with all of her heart, and would let anyone know that in a heartbeat. I know she's our guardian angel and she'll be watching over us," Whitney said.

Mitzi told Local 8 News Courteney's parents are devastated by the tragedy, but are thankful for all of the thoughts and prayers.

Courteney was a junior at Seymour High School. Students wore blue and Green this week in her honor. Those were her two favorite colors.
