Charges pending in fiery wreck on I-40

KNOX CO. Tenn. (WVLT) -- A fiery crash shut down traffic on I-40 late Friday afternoon.

At approximately 5:14 p.m., KPD Officers along with KFD and Rural Metro EMS responded to a two-vehicle crash in the eastbound lane of Interstate 40 near the Oglesby Road overpass.

The preliminary investigation showed a van traveling westbound crossed the median and entered into the eastbound lane, striking a SUV.

Witnesses, who stopped to assist pulled the driver of the van out of the vehicle as it caught on fire.
