PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Pigeon Forge Fire Chief has decided to rally the community in an effort to shed pounds.
Chief Tony Watson says he's struggled with his weight since high school and now hopes to finally stick to healthy life choices. He says it's been hard to drop the weight, but a group effort has helped.
"There were some folks together talking about trying to lose some weight. Simon that works at the community center, and myself, the Good lord brought us together and we started talking and trying to figure out if there's a way to provide a support network," said Watson. "But the main thing about me is it puts the pressure on me to make sure I'm making the right choices."
Watson says his family has been a big help also.
A Rotary Club of about 20 people have pooled together money. At the end the person who has lost the biggest percentage of weight will be able to take the money and give it to the charity of choice.
