KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Firefighters worked for hours to extinguish a fire at a double wide on Hill Road in Halls Sunday.
Neighbors first spotted the smoke after hearing their dog bark, and two men ran up the hill to wake an elderly man inside. They say they were able to save him before there was any danger, but they weren't able to rescue any of his belongings.
The man's wife wasn't at home at the time.
The couple says they plan to stay with family until they can figure out whether they'll be able to rebuild.
The Knox County Sheriff's Deparment is investigating the cause of the fire.
