Fire truck hits utility pole when responding to fire

KNOXVILLE, Tenn(WVLT)- Firefighters responding to a blaze ended up in a wreck. It happened Saturday afternoon at about 1:30.

Officials with the Knoxville Fire Department say they were responding to a small fire off of Sutherland Avenue, the driver was trying to make a left turn when the tires slid on the wet pavement.

That's when the ladder-truck hit a utility pole.

The driver and two passengers were sent to U.T. Hospital for observation, they have since been released with minor injuries.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and it appears to be accidental.
