KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Hawkins Co. Grand Jury is backing up a TBI investigation with charges of its own against a former Hawkins CO. Criminal Co. Judge. The Grand Jury indicted James "Jay" Taylor on a dozen charges of theft on Friday.
He is accused of stealing just under $200,000 between May 2007 and July 2010. According to the TBI, Taylor kept settlement funds awarded to clients in workers compensation claims. He also taking money from individuals under false pretenses, promising to invest the funds.
Taylor already faces over forty theft charges in Davidson Co. for submitting claims for legal work he did not perform.
