PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The foundation is been laid for Dollywood's newest attraction set to open next year.
All of the track pieces have arrived and work is finishing on the launch station for FireChaser Express. Crews still have about a half mile of track left to lay.
Before the ride finishes the audience will move into a show room where they'll experience a grand explosion.
"Where that trickery's going to happen where you are going to blast backwards after going in forward so still a lot of work to be done between now and when the ride opens in March but we're progressing very well," said Pete Owens, Dollywood Spokesperson.
FireChaser Express celebrates the brave firefighters in the volunteer-based fire departments of the 1940s who protected the neighboring Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
FireChaser Express is a dual-launch coaster set to open in March 2014 at Dollywood. The park plans a May 4, 2014 dedication ceremony to commemorate the symbolism of this special item at the park.
