Four convicted under new "gang related crime" statute

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Four members of a knoxville gang were convicted under the state's new "gang related crime" statute.

That will increase the defendants sentences.

Testimony revealed the four members of "Five Deuce Hoover Crips" nearly beat a man to death last May.

The victim was in a coma for nine weeks.

Devonte Bonds, age 20, Thomas Bishop, age 20, Jason Sullivan, age 35, and Brianna Robinson, age 25 were all convicted of attemptbed murder, aggravated assault and other weapons charges.

This is the first case where new enhanced punishment laws have been used.
