KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - It's flu season, and people needing flu shots had the chance to get them for free at six Knox County schools on Saturday morning.
It's all part of the 18th annual "Free Flu Shot Saturday." Anyone four years old and older could get the shot to protect themselves from the illness and help reduce the impact of influenza on the community.
"Some people are not able to afford to go and get a flu shot, so this helps them to be able to get the shot to keep from getting sick," said Brenda Green-Broadie, who got the flu shot.
The shots were given for free, but donations were accepted to help with the Empty Stocking Fund.
That organization provides food baskets and toys to those in need during the holidays.
