KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Protect yourself against the flu this winter and help underprivileged families celebrate Christmas. The 19th Annual Free Flu Shot Saturday is coming up on September 14.

The event will run from 8:00 a.m. until noon at 6 Knox Co. schools (see map below). It is open to anyone 4 and older. The national Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone 6 months and gets the flu vaccine each year.

While the vaccine is free, donations to the Knoxville News Sentinel's Empty Stocking Fund will be accepted. The fund provides 3,600 food baskets and toys to the community's neediest during the holidays. The free flu clinic is its biggest fundraiser.

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation, along with donation and aid from Summit Medical Group and the Knoxville-area Rotary Clubs, is the primary sponsor of the event.
