GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Rocky Top Sports World has hired the first General Manager of the new sports complex in Gatlinburg.
Steve Daugherty has been appointed to the position. He bring more than 20 years of sport event development, management and facility operations experience to the all new complex.
“Steve has a strong passion for sports and a great deal of knowledge in the sport marketing and event management arena. He is not only a great sports professional but he is even a greater person who will motivate and uplift the people who come in contact with him.” said James Parker, AAU Director of Sports. “I am positive he will do a remarkable job in his new role with Rocky Top Sports World.”
Daugherty will be responsible for the $20 million dollar development that will feature multiple indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
Funding for the 80-acre facility was provided by the City of Gatlinburg and Sevier County, Tennessee.
