SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- It's National Tourism Week, and to show the partnership between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and its neighboring communities, the park held a ceremony for both the Employee of the Year and the Tourist of the Day Monday.
This year, the park honors Heather Wood, the Administrative Support Assistant for the Division of Resource and Visitor Protection. Wood has worked in the park since 2002. She started out working in the Fire Management program.
Over the last decade, Wood transitioned into an administrative position. Today, she supports the behind the scenes efforts of the Park's Resource and Visitor Protection program.
Park officials say Wood is a highly motivated employee and demonstrates a positive attitude and strong work ethic in every job she performs. She shows support to her fellow employees, and always lends a hand to anyone in the park who needs help.
