Ole Smoky has sent off its first shipment to Canada of 42,000 bottles.
"We thought it would be something that's good for the city and the tourists coming in, but now that we've gotten into all the state and to now go into another country is pretty special," said Joe Baker, Owner of Ole Smoky. "There's a lot of people that need to be introduced to moonshine and so we're looking at opportunities in Asia and Europe and South America right now."
Baker says he's already got more orders to fill for Canada. He says he believes the success of his company is part of the interest people have in the art of distilling and the history of Appalachia.
Now more people are trying to do what Tennessee's first legal moonshine is doing.
"A lot of people are looking to this category or this industry, the liquor industry as an opportunity now and hopefully everybody does real well," said Baker.
Baker says his next goal is to spread the Tennessee shine all over the world.
