GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The City of Gatlinburg has canceled Ribfest because of the weather. The 11th Annual Ribfest & Wings Festival Thursday was meant to showcase the meaty selections offered by local businesses.
According to the Chamber, the City of Gatlinburg has just notified us that anyone who has pre-purchased an armband for Ribfest may bring their armband to City Hall at 1230 East Parkway beginning at 8:30am on Friday, April 27th for a full refund.
Events in the Ribfest were scheduled to include a hot wing eating contest and live music from area bands Demon Waffle and Tuatha Dea.
Local restaurants were set to show off their hot wings, hot sauces and ribs to all those hungry for samples.
A judge panel will award the best ribs and wings, and tasters will vote for the "People's Choice Award."
The city has not said if it plans on rescheduling the event.
