Georgia woman killed while rafting on Ocoee River

POLK COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) A Georgia woman died while rafting on the Ocoee River Saturday morning.

According to Polk County authorities, the call came in around 11:20 a.m. They said the accident happened after the first drop on the river.

The victim and another woman reportedly fell off the raft. The woman was rescued, and the victim was conscious and able to grab on to a rope, according to authorities.

She reportedly lost consciousness before she got to the bank.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the hospital. She was on a commercial rafting trip with family and friends.

Authorities are investigating how it all happened.
