Girlfriend who told 911 man shot himself charged

KINGSTON, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Kingston woman faces an aggravated domestic assault charge after allegedly shooting her live-in boyfriend in the chest, then telling 911 dispatchers he shot himself.

Tammy Ellen Rosado is free on bond.

She reportedly shot James R. Cobb with a .22 caliber revolver in their home early last Wednesday morning. When police arrived, they found what was described as the the scene of a domestic dispute.

Officers said Cobb told them Rosado shot him. He was then flown to a Knoxville hospital where he died days later.

Kingston Police Chief Jim Washam said Tuesday that what began as an assault case is now a homicide investigation. Washam said results of the police investigation will be given to the district attorney's office. A grand jury convenes June 18.
