KINGSTON, Tenn. (WVLT) --- On Black Friday the crowds at Frontier Firearms seemed never ending.
The gun store and shooting range were unknowing participants in the biggest day of gun sales in history.
Nationwide the FBI did 154,873 backround checks on the 23rd, a 20% jump from a year ago.
Tennessee saw a similar increase, the Burea of Investigation ran 5,936 checks that same day, up from 4,851 the year before.
The owner of Frontier, Brant Williams, says the jump has nothing to do with the holidays but everything to do with the White House.
"First time buyers," Williams tells us, "buyers who only own one gun and they want to get a shotgun for protection, they do mention 'I want to get it now I'm afraid I won't be able to.'"
Williams says the trend isn't unique to that Friday, since the election sales at Frontier are up 60%.
He doesn't see the sales slowing down.
