PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Pigeon Forge hotel has been given an award for efforts to help protect the environment.
Over the past few years, The Inn On The River has made hundreds of thousands of dollars in improvements. They've changed the faucets, lighting and much more.
"It's lighting, energy saving lighting all of this is florescent. Watching your waste you have to recycle all your waste and your energy saving how we heat the water," said Karl Thomas, Managing Partner of the Inn on the River.
Thomas says it's important to be recognized on TripAdvisor, because many people are turning to it for reviews before visiting.
"Everybody is going online and looking to read current reviews by paying customers. That's so important I use it myself on travels, I use it finding restaurants," said Thomas.
The Inn On the River has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award and is a Bronze level GreenLeader in the new TripAdvisor® GreenLeaders™ program.
