LOUISVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- According to the Blount County Fire Department, firefighters responded to a house fire call this morning off of Louisville Road in Louisville.
One elderly gentleman was home and made it out safely after going back in to grab his pets.
He was checked out on the scene by paramedics but was not injured.
Firefighters successfully contained the fire and saved part of the back of the house. However, damage to the house was substantial.
According to BCFD, the resident said he was cooking in the kitchen and took his eyes off the stove, only to find flames when he turned back around.
