ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Anderson County Sheriff's Office is trying to identify a human skull found Tuesday on Norman Road in the Claxton community.
Deputies believe it had been carried there by an animal.
Investigators with the Sheriff's Criminal Investigation Unit along with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Regional Forensic Center responded to the scene.
The skull was taken to the forensic center for examination to determine the age, sex, and race along with how long the skull had been exposed to the elements.
The area was searched by cadaver dogs from the Roane County Sheriff's Office but nothing else was located.
