Hundreds take strides against diabetes

Millions of people are living with diabetes. Though no cure yet - supporters are raising funds to help find one.

"I really didn't want to believe it. It was so shocking at first, " said Dharma Lawson.

A year ago Dharma Lawson was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

"I was one of those kids that loved food," said Lawson.

With a change in her diet and support from her family - Dharma says she's fighting it.

"It's important for people to know that there is help out there and that they're not by themselves," said Ramona Thurder.

Supporters gave more than $45,000 in donations.
