Interstate robbery sends one to hospital; police search for pair

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Investigators are searching for the two people who attacked and robbed a man as he sat alongside the interstate early Monday morning.

The victim, Redelk Thomas, told police he was sitting beside the I-40 West and Cherry street exit around 2:20 a.m. when two men approached hm asking for a "light." Thomas said the suspects then attacked him, punching him in the face and kicking him in the torso and leg.

One of them reached into Thomas' pocket and took $367 in cash and the duo took off up Cherry St., heading north.

The suspects were described as two teens, one of whom was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The other one was wearing a Cincinnati Bengals ball cap, jeans, and a black shirt with a dragon on the back. He also had black, braided, shoulder-length hair.
