Johnny Majors releases statement regarding heart procedure

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Former Tennessee head football coach Johnny Majors has released a statement regarding the heart procedure he underwent last week.

Coach Majors says: “Under the circumstances, I feel very good. Since coming in for my procedure, I’ve had confidence in the wonderful medical care and the decision making of my physicians. I’ve been extremely pleased with the care and attention I’ve received from the personnel at UT Medical Center to aid me in my recovery period. I appreciate the support of friends and family and also of supporters of mine from Tennessee and other parts of the country.”

Former Tennessee football Head Coach Johnny Majors is recovering from a heart valve procedure performed at UT Medical Center.

Doctors say it went well, but would not say when the 78-year-old would be released from the hospital.

Current head coach Butch Jones took a moment after Friday's practice to wish his Majors well.

"Our thoughts are with Coach Majors. Heard his procedure went exceptionally well today. Our thoughts are with him today," Coach Jones told a room full of reporters.

Majors' family says they'll send updates after the weekend.
