KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- The Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries served up a special meal to honor the area's homeless veterans.
While their service can sometimes go unnoticed, KARM and it's volunteers made sure that wasn't the case today. A dinner was served to the vets on a tables decked out in red, white, and blue.
The vets were also served at their table, a change from the daily routine which has the them standing in line.
KARM's president and CEO Burt Rosen says it's an important gesture.
"There's lots of things that go on in the community. Many of those others are able to participate in. But for those who don't have a place to call home, a place to lay their head every night, this is the place they do that."
After the meal, the veterans were treated to live music and a ceremony where Congressman Jimmy Duncan was the keynote speaker.
