KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) brought families to camp out in World's Fair Park Friday night to bring them together in the fight against homelessness and hunger in our community.
The 2nd Annual KARM Camp Out for Homelessness took place Friday evening through Saturday morning at the Festival Lawn, and features live music, games, presentations from KARM and more.
"We are very enthusiastic about the new KARM Camp Out event, a way to provide family friendly fun and also spotlight the needs of the homeless, hungry and needy in the Knoxville area," Danita McCartney, Director of Events at KARM, said in a statement. "We hope this event will open the eyes and hearts of our community and create an even greater awareness of the difficulties of daily living that those without food or shelter experience."
Band Elenowen of the TV show "The Voice" performed for the crowd.
Campers also received free breakfast provided by Chick Fil A.
KARM provides home to close to 400 people each night and close to a 1,000 meals each day.
