KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Fire Department responded to a house fire call Sunday morning in West Knoxville.
The blaze occurred at the 100 block of Herron Drive.
The resident told fire officials she awoke to the smell of smoke, exited her home and had a neighbor call 911.
When firefighters arrived, the clutter inside the structure delayed their progress. KFD established an exterior attack on the fire while unsuccessfully trying to gain entry to the home.
The fire then quickly extended into the attic area, breaching the roof.
Ammunition stored in the home also began exploding while firefighters fought the fire.
No injuries are reported at this time, and the Red Cross has been contacted to assist the homeowner.
