The Knoxville Fire Department extinguished a fire at a convenience store early Saturday morning and discovered a body inside the building.
Shortly after 1:00 a.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a call at the store at to the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. and Harrison Street. Firefighters found a fire in the ceiling area of the flat roofed, bricked structure.
During a secondary search of the smoke filled building, a body was discovered inside. The business was ordered closed this Summer by the city, and has been boarded up since then. "No Trespassing" signs are posted to the exterior.
Arson Investigators along with KPD Crime Lab are on the scene investigating the cause.
No injuries to firefighters are reported at this time.
