Police find man shot in chest behind East Knoxville home

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Police say they found a man with a gunshot wound behind a home on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue around 9:20 AM on Sunday.

Officers say 31-year-old Lonnie Flemming had been shot in the chest. They say he was uncooperative and was unable to tell them any details about what had happened.

Police say a witness told them Flemming had been shot earlier in the morning, and he did not want help from first responders.

He was taken to the U.T. Medical Center for what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.

The investigation continues.
