Kentucky high school students escape bus fire

JELLICO PLAINS, Tenn. (WVLT/WKYT)-- A group of Kentucky high school students returned home from a field trip Friday night after quite the scare.

The students from Sayre School were on a field trip when their bus went up in flames early Friday morning. It happened on I-75 in Jellico Plains.

"It started out really little, and so everybody went off the bus thinking we were just gonna get right back on, and it just got bigger and bigger and we could do less and less to help it," explained student Dealla Samadi.

No one was hurt, but the bus is a total loss.

According to the owner of the transportation company, it took firefighters more than 30 minutes to respond to the fire.
