On Wednesday, a student within the Oak Ridge School System was arrested after police say he threatened at least one other student with a knife on a school bus.

Officers responded to the Oak Ridge Schools Transportation Department, secured the knife and launched an aggravated assault investigation.

Transportation officials say the bus driver had seized a knife from a student earlier in the day.

Oak Ridge police say they have identified the suspect and potential victims and the investigation is ongoing.

While that incident was being investigated, a school resource officer was dispatched to the high school on a report of a 17-year old student creating a disturbance.

Officers eventually determined that the student may be armed or have a weapon in his car.

The student’s car was searched and officers found a stolen, loaded .357 magnum revolver along with marijuana and more than $950 in cash.

The student was arrested and immediately taken to Juvenile Court in Clinton.
