Knox Co. Sheriff's Office looking for volunteers for SCAN program

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knox County Sheriff's Office is looking for volunteers to help out a program called SCAN.

This is special program designed to help check on the safety and security of our older citizens.

Volunteers wear uniforms and drive KCSO cars, as they evaluate a senior's safety at their home, give out tips, and report any emergency situation.

You must be 21 to apply, which includes a background check and driver history check. There will also be a two week training class.
Once signed up you're required to work two days a month.

The deadline for applications is March 7. You can find out more by contacting Julie Bond at or call (865) 215-5627.
