Knox County Sheriff's Office lieutenant charged with child rape

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A lieutenant for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office has been charged in connection to a rape investigation conducted by The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

A Knox County Grand Jury indicted Dennis Mills, Jr., 43, Tuesday on a set of criminal counts, including Rape of a Child, Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure, and Incest.

He was arrested without incident in Knoxville this evening.

The TBI began investigating the Powell resident on March 4th, at the request of District Attorney General Randy Nichols. Mills was then placed on administrative leave without pay.

At the time of this article, Mills was being held in the Blount County Sheriff’s Detention Facility on a $250,000 bond.
