KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knox County woman will stay a little warmer during the winter month, thanks to a couple of businesses. Becky Barbour is the winner of Chaffee Air and Trane's holiday giveaway and will receive a new heating and air system.

"This supplies my air, like I have to have it,” says Barbour.

She's referring to a machine that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week that helps her breathe.

Barbour says, “I have COPD which I've had now for 12 years but I fought it and I fought it and when I get these kind of sicknesses which I just came through, it's really hard because you can't breathe a lot."

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease makes life tough, especially since she doesn't have a working air conditioning system.

“I just have the heating part, I don't have the air part,” says Barbour.

She's gone four years without cool air.

"We've been trying to figure out how we could get one,” Barbour says.

Chaffee Air and Trane teamed up for a holiday giveaway. Rex Chaffee, owner of Chaffee Air said about 50 people applied, but there could only be one winner of a new heating and air unit.

"She's been trying to heat with electric heaters which greatly dry the humidity out of the air and cause a bit of a problem for her breathing,” says Chaffee.

It came down to six finalists and Barbour's name was drawn out of a hat.

Barbour recalls her reaction to the news saying, "You got to be kidding, I thought he was teasing me."

Barbour found out later her son, Jerry Ellenburg submitted her information for the giveaway. Chaffee Air plans to install the new unit at no cost within the next week.
