KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville Zoo has announced that a 15-year-old North American black bear named 'Otis' died Friday.

The zoo says initial findings indicate the cause of death to be acute onset pneumonia.

Otis was orphaned along with another bear near Alaska in 1999.
Both were taken to Fort Worth Zoo in Texas and in 2001, both came to Knoxville Zoo.

A necropsy to determine the cause of death was conducted at The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Conclusive test results will not be available for a few weeks.
