KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Senior Judge Jon Kerry Blackwood set an Oct. 28 trial date for attorney Bruce Poston.

Poston is accused of two counts of delivery of hydrocodone, one count of attempted delivery and driving on a suspended license.

He was arrested last month after a probe by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Poston’s driver’s license was suspended for failing to pay a speeding ticket in Greene County.

He continues to practice law, and no action has been taken so far to have his law license suspended.

A Knox County grand jury indicted Knoxville lawyer Bruce Poston on several charges Tuesday morning, including delivery of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license.

According to that indictment, Poston delivered dihydrocodeinone on two separate occasions in January and Februrary 2014.

Along with drug charges, the grand jury indicted Poston on two charges of driving on a suspended license.

Dihydrocodeinone is a a pain killer in the same family as hydrocodine.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is handling the case and arrested Poston Tuesday morning.

Agents began investigating after a woman told the Knox County District Attorney's Office that Poston was supplying her with money and pills, and also claimed a sexual relationship with him. The woman told investigators that Poston represented her husband in a criminal matter and claimed he mishandled the case to further his sexual relationship with her.

H. Greeley Wells, Jr., a former District Attorney out of Sullivan County, will be prosecuting the case. The Knox County District Attorney's Office said it's not involved because Poston is a local attorney and the state still has cases against clients he's representing.

Poston's law firm had no comment.

Poston is free on $3,000 bond.
