KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knoxville doctor escaped North Korea with his family when he was six years old.
Dr. Tom Kim treated Korean War veterans to breakfast Tuesday morning at Shoney's.
American troops fought in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.
He said if it weren't for American soldiers, he wouldn't be in America today.
"Korea was like the forgotten war, right? I'm not forgotten of them. So, I like to recognize them and give them thanks. That's all, there's no magic," said Dr. Kim.
Dr. Kim also tried on veteran Leroy Rogers' uniform during the event.
