PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Restaurants in Pigeon Forge will now be able to sell liquor to you while you eat. By a 100 vote margin, voters on Tuesday said yes to the plan.

Voters said yes to Liquor by the Drink with 1,232 votes to the 1,132 no votes.

"The opposition has a choice, the people that are for it don't have a choice. The many visitors, the residents, they don't have a choice, a vote forward would give you a choice," said Ken Maples, with Forging Ahead. "There are so many opportunities for our city. Not only to compete a little better with our sister cities of Gatlinburg and Sevierville, but the additional funding for schools that we miss out on. Our schools need that funding."

Voters have previously said no to the liquor by the drink vote. In May of 2011 590 voters said no to 482 yes votes.

A record number of people voted early on the liquor by the drink issue. A total of 1077 votes were cast before election day.
