Local food allergy group promotes awareness with events


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) The month of May is Food Allergy Action Month, and the Food Allergy Community of East Tennessee is sharing several events to raise local awareness.

For Food Allergy Awareness Week (May 11-17), FACET will host its first annual WellAware on Tuesday, May 13th.

The event will include an advocacy workshop and guest speakers.

Knoxville's Allergy, Asthma and Sinus Center will host a Food Allergy Awareness Meeting on Thursday, May 15th.

FACET will also participate in the Children's Festival of Reading in Knoxville with its Busy Beans Play Program on Saturday, May 17th.

On May 21st, Smokies' Park will host Peanut-Free Night at 7 p.m. The stadium will be thoroughly cleaned and they won't sell peanuts during the Smokies game against the Bay Bears.
