Local man featured on Nat'l Geographic's "Doomsday Preppers"

WHITE PINE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Lucas Cameron says the Bible predicts the end of the world.

"Every time you read in Joel, Revalations or Matthew, you see that before the events start happening, there's signs in the sun moon and stars. And in 2014 and 2015, we're going to have lunar tetrads take place on Passover and Tabernacles back-to-back, two years in a row. This won't happen again for generations," said Cameron.

Last March, he started a YouTube channel called "7 Trumpets Prepper" to get people ready.

"Not only to help prepare people for like the 7 trumpets in the Bible, but to also help people see what they can do to help their community in case disaster strikes. We cover everything from food, water, sanitation, projects to produce power," said Cameron.

The channel sparked National Geographic's interest and earlier this year, they filmed Cameron for their "Doomsday Preppers" show. His episode airs Tuesday night.

"It was kind of chaotic some days - there was people all over the place. I mean, I had a good time though and they were very friendly," he said.

A wood gasifier is one of the things featured on the show.

"You essentially have a heating unit and a boiler with the wood that will be in it and that transfers into a filter unit and from the filter into the generator and makes power in place of petroleum products," said Cameron.

Also on there: his emergency preparation closet.

"You have sanitation in here - we have shampoos, your soaps, you bleaches. You have MREs -- Meals Ready to Eat - you could hand out to your neighbor and that's a meal that could get them through for two days," said Cameron.

Cameron said good preparation will keep people calm and clear-minded when disaster strikes.

His episode airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. on the National Geographic Channel. He said he's having a block party to watch.
