It's the most watched video on YouTube. A "thank you" from three women held captive inside an Ohio home for a decade. We asked a local psychologist to watch the video and tell us what he found in it. Through the trauma and the scars, he found a riveting message. Something powerful and exciting.
Amanda Berry says, "It's been unbelievable. I want to thank everyone who has been there through this entire ordeal."
Dr. Ron Brown watched closely as Amanda Berry, Gina Dejesus and Michelle Knight spoke publicly for the first time since their release.
Psychologist Dr. Ron Brown says, "Very powerful. Yeah, yeah very exciting."
Amanda Berry, the woman who escaped and helped get the others out of that house of horrors, thanked everyone for their support.
With their captor, Ariel Castro now in jail. Amanda Berry says, "I'm getting stronger each day and having my privacy has helped immensely."
Dr. Brown says her positive attitude and talk about the future is a good sign. Dr. Ron Brown says, "Normally people are hiding. Anxiety is sky high and depression is deep."
Gina Dejesus simply "Thank you for the support."
Michelle Knight had the most to say, "I went through hell and back, but I'm strong enough to walk through hell with a smile on my face." She said God is in control. He will be the one to judge.
Dr. Ron Brown says, "It sounds like they have moved a great distance from what has taken place."
The women speak slowly and less articulate than most people in their 30's. Dr. Brown says it's typical after being in captivity for so long, and they will progress. Michelle Knight finished by saying, "Thank you for my prayers. I'm looking forward to my brand new life."
