KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) With a signature Tennessee has a new law with a local tie.

You may remember the story of Lynn Cameron, a nineteen year old with severe mental handicaps who was abandoned by her mom at a Caryville bar, hundreds of miles from her Chicago home.

Cameron is all right but her mother was never criminally charged because there is nothing that makes abandoning an adult illegal-- until now.

Governor Bill Haslam in Caryville just an hour ago making abandonment illegal.

The new law is named Lynn's Law after the teen.
