NIOTA, Tenn. (WVLT) -- After 3 days and more than 30 hours into the case, no verdict, instead the district attorney moves to dismiss the case and the court agrees.
Two Niota officers accused of beating Ray Stewart, while he was being arrested on traffic charges in June 2011, walk away - free.
The trial was nixed after Stewart was reportedly caught taking pictures of jury members and their vehicles and harassing them. He could be served with a Contempt of Court warrant as soon as Friday afternoon for his actions.
McCarter and Scott were indicted in April on charges of official oppression and conspiracy to commit official oppression stemming from the June 13, 2011 arrest of Ray Stewart of Niota on traffic charges.
