Baby Messiah gets to keep original name

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Baby Messiah gets to keep his name.

On Wednesday, a Cocke Co. mother successfully appealed a Child Magistrate's August decision to change the then-7 month-old boy's name from Messiah DeShawn Martin to Martin DeShawn McCullough.

At the time, the magistrate, Lu Ann Ballew, explained the change by saying that "`Messiah' is a title that is held only by Jesus Christ."
